Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel, 1847–1868 William K. McKissick Company (1861) Age 25

Departure: 20 May 1861 Arrival: 20 August 1861

The McKissick company departed from Pleasant Grove (near Sidney), Iowa, with several families and individuals, comprising about 25 men and 13 wagons. Most of the company were non-Mormons.

Obituary:

"...Mrs. Mary A. Adams, aged 83 years, died at Thatcher, Wednesday, March 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Richardson

The cause of her death was infirmities of old age, as she was in good health and active up and and until two weeks before her death.

She was the mother of twelve children. She was among the pioneers who crossed the plains into the Salt Lake Valley, and knew the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith.

The funeral services were held Thursday, March 20, 1919 at 3:00 p.m., at the Thatcher church. Interment was made in Thatcher cemetery..."
