Serg't John Hurlbut, born in Wethersfield, Conn., March 8th 1642, learned the trade of Blacksmith of his father, and after he was of age, worked at Wethersfield and Killingworth. At the age of twenty-seven he removed to Middletown under a contract with the settlers to "do the town work of Smithing for seven years," which agreement he carried out. Industrious and successful in his calling he subsequently became a large landholder, and one of the prominent men of the place. -E. Stearns. He married at Middletown, December 15th, 1670; died August 30th, 1690.
Also, Mary Deming, of Wethersfield, born 1655, time of death not known, but she survived her husband.
Joined the church, 1675., age 20.
