The information that John C McCarey was the father of Mary McCarey was the wife of Archibald McAlister ( 1813 Ire-1876 SC) comes from a Will written by my great grandfather James McCarey written after his first wife died childless but later had his signature torn off when he married again and had a daughter. In this Will he named all his siblings and his parents. Even though the Will was not used it provided family information of those who lived in Ireland. In the 1860's and 1870's many of his siblings came to SC locating at first near him, then later moved on. So far I have not been able to prove the parents came to the US but they were still living by 1862 when the Will was dated as they were named. By the way his wife was Anne McKellop in Cushendall, Co Antrim, Ireland. Note I used the date Archibald McAlister reported in the 1870 SC Oconee Census that he appeared in with his wife and children. Archibald had brother Charles that came to colonies too. In the family papers it was reported that mother was Sarah McAuley, daughter of Michael and his wife Sarah McDonnell McAuley who lived at the top of Atmore Mountain, Co Antrim, Ireland. Hope this helps. .... From Cousin Mona
