About Mary "Polly" Cory
From 'Some American Farrars' by C L Farrar: Was born Feb. 1, 1789, at Cherry Valley, Washington County, Penna. She was known in the family as "Polly". On Feb. 1, 1816, she married John Cory, who was born and raised in Sussex County, N.J., and knew his wife's grandparents there. He has been quoted several times in this work as it seems that he is the only person outside of the family who had known this first immigrant ancestor, that is, James Farrar. In 1824 this couple moved to Marion County, Indiana, when that country was quite new, and obtained a farm where they lived the rest of their lives. Mary died there on Aug. 19, 1872, aged 83 years. They had nine children, five of whom died very young. Inscription: Died at age 80 years, 6 months & 19 days. Wife of John Cory.
