About Mary Reck
Mary was born in Poppielow Poland - then part of Germany -also called Silesia or Prussia. She was 10 years old when she came to America with her father and sister. Her mother must have died in the old country. She was a house maid/helper for Vitus Reck and his first wife Susan Rumpel when Susan passed away. Vitus married her three months after Susan died.
She and Vitus had 12 children together and he passed away in 1913 leaving her with not only her 12 children but several younger ones from Vitus' first marriage.
