About Mary Alberta Smith
Mary's formal schooling ended in Grade 8 when her mother died. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in in New Auburn, Wisconsin where Henry also pursued his trade of stone mason and Mary maintained a rose garden and ponies for the enjoyment of her children. Letters the widowed Mary wrote about her family to Alden Haw are in my possession. Mary also wrote two books: "Sunlight and Shadow," short stories of her family's experience in N.D. and "Wisconsin Rainbow," dealing with her Wisconcin life from 1922-1940.
