Mary Elizabeth Bates Smith Baldwin, 79: Funeral services were held in Snowflake, Arizona, January 10, for Mary, the widow of Silas Reuel Smith, eldest son of Silas Derryfield Smith and Ellen Johanna Larson. She was buried at Taylor, Arizona, beside the grave of her husband, whose death occurred exactly 50 years earlier. Her death came in the Show Low Hospital, following a heart attack she suffered on January 6th.
She was born August 25, 1898, and married to Silas June 8, 1911. After his death in 1920 she married William C. Baldwin April 4, 1923. Her second husband also preceded her in death. She was the mother of five children: Mrs. Hyrum (Ida) Hendrickson, Mrs. Floyd Dye (Anona) Larson, Norman Reuel and Norma Elizabeth Smith (twins), and Van Clark Baldwin. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Speakers at the services included Raymond Stratton, Ivan Bates, a brother, and H. Reuel Hendrickson, a grandson.
