About Mary Suzanne Schellhardt George

Mary Suzanne "Sue" George, 78, died at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Medical Center North after a short illness. Sue was the daughter of Francis E. and Gladys M. Schellhardt. She was born July 24, 1925, and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She is survived by her husband, Joe, married 57 years; three sons and their wives, Joe and Becky, Springfield, Shelly and Teri, Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Walter and Susan, Parkville, Mo.; her sister Martha Ruth Reed, Prairie Village, Kan., and her son John, New York City; in-laws Walt and Peg George, and Anne and Hank Billings; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was a graduate of Drury University, a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Chapter ER P.E.O., Drury Women's Auxiliary, and Hickory Hills Country Club. Scripture services will be held today at 7 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will follow. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Lewis Hejna celebrant. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.
