Late Wednesday night on May 4, 2016, Mary Lynn Hobbs Tritt went to be with her Saviour and to be reunited with her son, whose death she mourned until the day she died. Mary Lynn was born in a little farmhouse on the Hobbs farm in Dryden, VA to Ewing and Hattie Hobbs on Saturday, October 6, 1923. There she grew up, became a member of the Dryden United Methodist Church and graduated from Dryden High School. After graduation, she met P.H. Tritt, whom she married on October 3, 1942. Together they owned and operated the Tritt Hardware Store in Pennington Gap, VA for many years and became the proud parents of their only child, James Patrick "Pat" Tritt. She lived in Pennington Gap until March of 2016 when she moved to Crown Cypress Assisted Living in Kingsport, TN, where she thoroughly enjoyed her short time there. Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Ewing and Hattie Hobbs; husband P.H. Tritt; son, Pat Tritt; sisters, Muriel Ely, Kittie Livesay, and Jessie Myers; brother, Clyde Hobbs, niece Gail Edward and nephews Clyde Neal and Wayne Myers.

She is survived by one sister, Rebecca Neal of Clintwood, VA; her nieces, Frances Ratliff, Sharon Peters, and Elaine Day and nephew Donnie Hobbs, also surviving are her long time and devoted friends, Audrey and Fred Dotson and her caregivers, Betty Gruebel, Mary Ward and Virgie Hill.

Friends will be received at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Barry Sarver of the Dryden United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Thomas and Mark Dotson, Henry J. Peters Jr, Blaine Ratliff and Donnie Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers will be David Myers and Fred Dotson.
