http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/SOUTH-AFRICA-IMMIGRAN... Mary Jane LOVE (16 Mar 1830 - 24 Apr 1905) was the daughter of Richard LOVE and Mary MAUNCEY. She was one of the LOVE babies who were rescued from raiding Xhosa by their native nanny while the parents were away from home. She stained their bodies with berry juice and hid them in her kraal until the war was over, returning them two years later to their parents. I don't know exactly where this was, but Mary was baptised in Cuylerville, and she and Amos were married in Fort Beaufort. Date-wise, this sounds like it was probably the Sixth Frontier War of 1835, in which Rebecca ROGERS, wife of Stephen TROLLIP's brother, Jacob, was killed defending her husband. I don't know where the LOVEs originally came from or when.
