Mary Josephine Veazey

Mary Veazey, 73, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pioneer Chapel at N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Veazey was born and raised in Halbrite, Saskatchewan, Canada, moved to Amarillo in 1947 and became an American citizen in 1953. A homemaker, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Second Baptist Church.

She married Louis Veazey in 1946 at Canada. He died in 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Paulette Burt and Debbie Tuter, both of Amarillo; a son, Ron Veazey of McKinney; a sister, Lucy "Lou" McBride of Amarillo; three brothers, Rolland Hallberg, Denis Hallberg and Royce Hallberg, all of Saskatchewan; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
