Mary Martha (Bessette) Waterson, 71, of Rapid City, died on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

She was born on August 25, 1928 in Scenic, South Dakota to James "Lee" and Victoria Teresa (Kimball) Bessette. She attended grade school north of Scenic on 71 Table and high school in Scenic and New Underwood.

On March 4, 1947, Mary married Theodore Raymond "Ted" Waterson in Rapid City, SD. When their youngest child was in school she began working for the Rapid City school district as a teacher's aide and other positions for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. at St. Terese Catholic Church with Father Brian Lane as celebrant. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.

The Mary Waterson Memorial Fund will go to the American Legion Post 22, Baseball & Canyon Lake Little League.

Rooks & Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
