Mary Stanford was born on December 12, 1803 (a) in Columbia County, Georgia, daughter of David Stanford and Sarah (Upton) Stanford.

On January 15, 1822, she married John Fletcher Young in Columbia County, GA. Their children include Elizabeth (1824), Mary (1825), Martha (1828), John, Jr (1830), David Pearce (1833) and Virginia (1837) Young.

In October 1839, Mary (Stanford) Young, age 36, died in Briarwood, Columbia County with burial in Howell Cemetery, Howell, Columbia County, Georgia.
