About Mary Jane (Minnie) Young

Mary Jane's biological mother died not long after her brother, Frederick John Young was born in 1854. Her father, John Young knew of a childless couple, William and Maria Teresa Burt (nee Furber) living in Braidwood, and knowing that he could not raise young children alone, gave Mary Jane to the Burts and Frederick John to Mary Creagan at Major's Flat, who had just lost a baby of her own.
