About Matilda Hertel
Matilda Hertel, 94, Hays Good Samaritan Center, died Friday, July 4, 1997 at Hays Medical Center's Hadley Campus. She was born Oct. 6, 1902 in Antonino to John J. and Katherine (Bittle) Rohr. She married Hilarius Hertel in Munjor, May 20, 1929.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, and the Christian Mothers, Munjor. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 6, 1989; five brothers, George, Alois, Lawrence, Fred, and Father Ignatius Rohr; and two sisters, Clementine Schott and Margaret Dechant.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fathers Michael Suchnicki and Harvey Dinkel officiating; burial in the St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor.
