Birth. (No date found), Rome. Of a noble family. Son of Orso Orsini di Montegiordano (o Campo dei fiori), and Francesca del Cardinale. His last name is also listed as des Ursins, Orsini di Monte Giordano and Guimerá di Agrigento. Nephew of Cardinal Francesco Napoleone Orsini (1295).

Education. Studied in France. Entered the Order of the Preachers (Dominicans) at the end of 1294; studied in Bologna and in Paris; maître in theology.

Early life. Canon of Saint-Étienne.

Priesthood. Ordained (no further information found). Professor of Sacred Scriptures in Paris; later, in Florence. Provincial of Rome in 1322. Definitor general of his order. He assured in perpetuity, by a considerable legacy, the celebration of the general chapters of the order. Ambassador of the Roman people to the pope to invite him to return to Rome.

Episcopate. Elected bishop of Grigenti (Agrigento), October 20, 1326. Consecrated in late October or early November 1326, by Cardinal Guillaume Pierre Godin, O.P., bishop of Sabina. Promoted to the metropolitan see of Manfredonia (Siponto), June 15, 1327; occupied the see until his promotion to the cardinalate.

Cardinalate. Created cardinal priest of Ss. Giovanni e Paolo in the consistory of December 18, 1327. Administrator of the metropolitan see of Palermo from 1334 to 1336. Participated in the conclave of 1334, which elected Pope Benedict XII. Cardinal protoprete in March 1336. Opted for the order of cardinal bishops and the suburbicarian see of Sabina, December 18, 1338.

Death. August 18, 1340 (or 1341), in odor of sanctity, Avignon. Buried in the chapel of S. Catarina, which he had built, in the church of S. Maria sopra Minerva, Rome. Some authors give him the title of blessed.
