FORT WORTH -- Max Herman Renov, 84, a retired CPA, died peacefully Monday evening, March 28, 2005, in the hospice unit of a local hospital.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Rashti Chapel at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St., with Rabbi Alberto "Baruch" Zeilicovich and Javier Smolarz, ritual director, officiating. Burial: Following committal prayers, Max will be laid to rest in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Visitation: For religious reasons, he will not lie in state.
Bearers of his casket will be his son-in-law, Marc Baseman; grandsons, Jason and Collin Berg; and nephews, Jeffrey, Michael and Steven Kaitcer.
Memorials: Mr. Renov's family respectfully suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Congregation Agudath Achim or a charity of choice.
A native of Shreveport, La., Max Herman Renov was born March 26, 1921, the son of Elias and Lena Gold Renov. He graduated from high school and attended Centenary College, where he received a degree in accounting.
Max served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. It was while stationed in England that he met Cecily Kaitcer. The couple were married March 31, 1946, and moved to Shreveport. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Thursday.
Max and Cecily moved to Fort Worth in 1993 where they joined Congregation Ahavath Sholom. Mr. Renov was a member of B'nai B'rith and the Jewish War Veterans. He was also a 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors: Wife, Cecily Kaitcer Renov of Fort Worth; daughter, Shelagh Renov Baseman and her husband, Marc, of Carmel, Calif.; son, Dr. Michael Renov and his wife, Cathy Friedman, of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason Berg, Collin Berg, Veronica Renov and Madeline Renov; brothers, Dr. Joseph Renov and his wife, Blanche, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Manuel Renov and his wife, Claire, of New Orleans, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
