Merritt A. LaFlamme, 85, longtime West Duluth resident, died Jan. 22, 2006 at Bayshore Health Center. He was born in Duluth on Jan. 17, 1921 to Mid and Jenny Bainville LaFlamme. He was a graduate of Denfeld High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He married Lois Ecklund in Duluth. Merritt had worked at Northern Drug Company for over 35 years. Merritt was a member of St. James Catholic Church and had been active in the West Duluth VFW and West Duluth Moose Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years; and sister, Beatrice Bellehumeur. He is survived by son, Steven (Melissa) of Duluth; brother, Clifford (Charlotte), Proctor; sisters, Lucille Pitt of California, Lorraine Bohlin and Yvonne Harstad, both of Duluth; and grandchildren, Amy, Jeff, and Kelly. VISITATION:10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday in St. James Catholic Church. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Memorials to the Salvation Army or Kids Closet, in care of the family are preferred. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.
