Meyer was born August 31, 1913, in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Morris and Minnie (Horowitz) Pachter. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1930, then from K.C. Junior College in 1934. In 1936, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, Columbia, majoring in accounting, and was a member of Phi Sigma Delta fraternity. After graduation, he founded and was President of Pachter Garment Co. and was an active member of the Kansas City Apparel Association. Meyer was also President of Mr. Gleam Car Wash. He was a life member of B'nai B'rith and the Oakwood Country Club, member of Hadassah, Brandeis University National Women's Committee, and past cochairman of the Trades and Professions division of the Jewish Welfare Federation. Meyer was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue for over 50 years. Because of his interest in photography and Jewish history, he voluntarily produced video tapes of many special events and lecturers at the Synagogue. Recently, the Meyer J. Pachter Video Library was established. In 1996, the Synagogue honored Meyer and Regina with the Kovod Award. Meyer served on a committee headed by the late Dr. Abraham Sachar, which established the Hillel House at the University of Missouri. Survivors include his wife of almost 67 years, Regina (Entin) Pachter; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Siegler, New York; son, Elliot Pachter, Lenexa, KS; daughter, Maurine Pachter, Kansas City, MO; granddaughter and husband, Dr. Lauren and Eric Muhlheim; grandchildren, Robert Pachter and Kelsi Jo Pachter; greatgrandchildren, Henry, Rebecca and Allison Muhlheim.
