About Michael Ben-House Benedicks
Michael Benedicks was a German Jew who immigrated to Sweden. As a Jewish person, he was unable to obtain citizenship in Sweden, although he did change is last name from Ben-House - > Benedicks. Michael also worked as a crown jeweler for King Karl XVIII, through which he became incredibly wealthy and was eventually able to obtain citizenship. His wife was also Jewish, but his children largely converted to Christianity.
With his wealth from jeweling, he bought an iron mill in Gysinge in 1802. This mill was one of the largest producers of iron in the Napoleonic War. He died in 1845 with his family one of the most wealthy in all of Sweden.
