About Michael Hallinan
Died 1929 MR. MICHAEL HALLINAN . lt was with feelings of deep regret the many friends of Mr. Michael Hallinan learned that he had passed away at Kerang, after a few days' illness. Mr. Hallinan was born at Lockwood, near Bendigo, in 1856. When a young man he selected land in Appin South, and, with the exception of three years in Gippsland, he spent the remainder of his life in that district. About 40 years ago he married Miss Elizabeth Molloy, second daughter of Mr. Patrick Molloy, of "Limestone," Yandoit. There are [Hallinan] five sons and five daughters - Thomas (Melbourne), John (Korangie), Patrick (Port Fairy), Michael (Appin South), Agnes (Mrs. W. E. Dunstan), Winnie and Frank (Appin South), Minnie (Macedon), Lily (Sister Benedict, of St. Benedict's Good Samaritan Convent, Sydney), and Catherine (Appin South). These are left to bear with the sorrowing widow the great loss of a devoted husband and father. Mrs. Geary, of Borung, is a sister. Always of a quiet disposition, the deceased made many friends, and was always a willing helper in any movement for the advancement of the district. The remains were laid to rest in the Kerang Cemetery. The funeral, from St. Patrick's Church, was one of the largest seen in the district. The prayers at the graveside were recited by Fr. Armstrong.
