Michał Hofmokl (born September 29, 1832 in Brzeżany, died August 31, 1907 in Lviv) - lawyer, judge, member of the Austrian State Council.

Curriculum vitae [edit | edit code]
He graduated from a gymnasium in Lviv (1849) and the Faculty of Law at the University in Lviv (1854) [1]. From February 1855, he worked as a concept apprentice at the City Hall of Lviv (1855-1859) [2]. From August 1859 he was an actuary in the Poviat Starosty in Horodenka (1859-1863) [3] and from the end of 1963 he was an assistant professor in the Poviat Starosty in Kamionka Strumiłowa (1863-1867) [4]. Then he moved to the Galician judiciary. From September 1867 he was a judge and head of the District Court in Bełz in the Sokalski district (1867-1874) [5], and from March 1874 in Dobromil (1874-1875) [6]. From November 1875 he was a judge (court advisor) of the Stanisławów District Court (1875-1899) [7]. Seconded in 1876 as head of the local court in Stanisławów, and in 1878-1894 at the same time an assessor in the County Court for / s. tax revenues in Stanisławów [8]. Retired from 1898.
Member of the Austrian State Council of the 8th term (May 10, 1892 - January 22, 1897), elected in the II curia (municipalities) in district no. 9 (Stanisławów-Tyśmienica) in additional elections after the resignation of Leon Biliński [9]. In the Austrian parliament, he belonged to the Polish Club in Vienna [1].

Family and private life [edit | edit code]
He came from a polonized German family. Son of Johann Georg (born 1800). His brother was the famous doctor and surgeon Jan Edward Hofmokl. He married Józefina Tarler (1833-1918) in 1859, had children with her: son Eugeniusz Marian (1863-) and two daughters: Barbara Konstancja Teodorowicz (1862-) and Helena Witkiewicz (1864-) [10]
