About Michiel Loubser
Michiel Loubser (1955 - 2013)
Brief overview:
Michiel (55), a civil engineer, was gunned down when four attackers invaded his premises in Penguin Street, Monument Park, on 30th October 2013, shortly after 19h30. He had been swimming at a clubhouse, shortly afterwards he unlocked the security gate of his home. Loubser tried to flee, but was shot in both legs, hitting both arteries.
At the time of the incident, his wife, Helena, was working on a real estate course in Johannesburg. Liizl Miller, a clinical psychologist who lives just opposite the Loubser family, heard the shots. She immediately called the Loubser home, but when she got no answer, she called Helena. When she heard that Helena was in Johannesburg, she called a neighbour who went to investigate. He found Loubser, heavily wounded in a pool of blood, on the porch near the front door of their home.
Neighbours saw a white car with four occupants drive away from the house. Miller called the Netcare ambulance service. "They tried to stop the bleeding and rushed him to Unitas Hospital," she said. He passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Brooklyn police are investigating cases of murder and house robbery. No arrests have been made. Several items were stolen from the house before they fled.
