Mike Blattel

Mike Blattel, 85, of New Hamburg, MO, died Nov. 8, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born Oct. 15, 1918, in New Hamburg, son of the late Antone and Regina Diebold Blattel, he was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Joseph Sodality in New Hamburg. On Nov. 26, 1944, he married Mary Ann Schulte who preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1995. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Doris Diebold; two brothers, Edward Blattel and Zeno Blattel; and one sister, Louise Westrich. Survivors include: one son, Tom Blattel; two sisters, Blandine Westrich and Cyrilla Davis; and three grandchildren, Brandon Blattel, Jacob Blattel and Brian Blattel. Visitation ws held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where parish prayers were said. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. James Seyer officiating. Burial followed in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Joe Westrich, James Westrich, Adolf Westrich, Theodore Westrich, Earl Blattel and Charles Westrich.
