About Mildred Doran

Mildred (Melton) Doran, age 98, of Ozark, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, in Ozark Riverview Manor. She was born February 6, 1909, in Ozark, the daughter of Reuben E. and Nell (White) Melton. On October 2, 1926, she and Lawrence Woodford Doran were united in marriage. Survivors include: a brother, Rex Melton, Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.; four children, Jean Strothmann and husband, Harvey, Rocheport, Missouri, Betty Hopkins and husband, Bob, Silver Spring, Maryland, Barbara McConnell, Ozark, and Larry Doran and wife, Barbara, Ozark; 11 grandchildren: Sharon and Jim Renken, Wayne and Denise Strothmann, Glen and Snezana Strothmann, Michael and Carole Hopkins, Laurinda and Richard Taliaferro, Neal Stumbo, Debra and Steven Linscome, Lori and Warren Whitlow, Lee and Lisa Doran, Larry Doran, Jerry Doran; three step-grandchildren, Donald McConnell, Sue Garner and Angie Cheney; 14 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Don McConnell; three brothers, Max, Roger and Dale Melton; a sister, Ruth Crocker; and a granddaughter, Karen Hopkins. Mildred was a beloved mother, a homemaker and a terrific seamstress. She briefly taught school in Ozark in 1926, and taught English in Korea. She lived in South Korea, The Philippines, and South Vietnam with her husband who was in the Foreign Aid Program. She was very active in the Cassidy United Methodist Women. A special thanks to Neal Stumbo, Patricia Hartzler and Ozark Riverview Manor for the loving care given. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Harold Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Richwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Cassidy United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 5151 N. Fremont Road, Nixa, MO 65714.
