Mildred Melton Nightingale, 78, formerly of 310 32nd St. NE, died Monday at Hallmar Nursing Home following a brief illness. She has lived there for the last three years. Born Jan. 16, 1901, near Mechanicsville, she moved to Cedar Rapids in 1920 and attended the Cedar Rapids Business College. She was a former employee of Cedar Rapids Sheet Metal Co. for 13 years. She was married to the late Lynn Nightingale on Nov. 21, 1933. He died April 24, 1943, at Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Nightingale was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Praha Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kuba Funeral Home East by the Rev. Clifton Ellerbeck. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
