Crash Kills Brother of Mayme Milhander
In Sunday's plane crash at Mason City, Iowa, were Mayme Milhander's brother, Milton Schoenberg, and his wife Mayme.
They had left their home in Denver for Rochester, Minnesota. The plane, caught in a blinding storm only minutes from a landing in Mason City, struck a power line, crashing. Spectators say it bounced 500 feet but did not catch on fire. 11 out of 19 on board were instantly killed, including Milton Schoenberg. The wife, in a critical condition, is in Mercy Hospital at Mason City.
William Schoenberg, Milton's brother, visited here recently and was so impressed he had talked Milton into a visit which only the fatal crash prevented. Mayme Milhander, beloved by the entire village, is heartbroken and shaken at the news.
