About Minnie E. TINNES

Minnie was born 3-13-1891 in Palmyra Township, Minnesota, the 8th of 9 children born to Ole and Olina Tinnes. <p>Minnie's father moved the family to Genoa, Colorado in 1907 where he built a general store and their home in the northeast portion of the town. They were one of the first families to settle in Genoa. Minnie and her sisters, Tina and Jeanette helped their father in the store. She also devoted a lot of her time to music, reaching a high grade of accomplishment and was a successful teacher of music in the towns of Limon and Genoa. <p>The 1930 U S Federal census lists Minnie as 40 years old, married to Robert H Balis, age 53, born in Wisconsin, about 1877. They were married on 2-10-1926 in Limon, Lincoln county CO and living in Loveland Colorado. <p>The 1940 U S Census lists Minnie, living in Loveland CO, widowed and her father, Ole Tinnes, is living with her. Minnie's parents, Ole and Oline had moved to Loveland in 1925 and after Oline died in 1935, Minnie took care of her father, Ole, until he passed away in 1941. <p></p> <p>Loveland Burial Park research lists "Death or Burial Date" as March 24 1980.</p>
