About Moises de Isaac Haim Salas y Sousa Brito
Rabbi Emmanuel notes that Moses Salas officiated as the Hazzan (Cantor) of the Dutch Jewish Reform community from 1881 until Laguna's arrival in 1884, and then as the later's assistant. Impartial and very devoted to the community.
As a Freemason, Moises Salas held a higher-degree title. This is denoted in his signature by a double triangle consisting of five dots, three at the base and two superior ones positioned above the spaces between the three lower dots.

The first trade associations found in the records of Barranquilla are "Méndez Salas y Compañía", apparently constituted in Riohacha around 1840-41, although the possibility that its foundation had taken place in Curacao, where its partners were from, and "Pardo y Dovale" whose private contract was raised to a public deed on January 4, 1854, is not ruled out. The first was established under the order of Bilbao and the second under the code of 1853. Both associations were organized among co-religionists. Méndez Salas y Cía. was constituted among the Sephardim Jacob and Isaac Rois Méndez and Moisés Salas, belonging to distinguished families of Curacao, based in Riohacha and related to each other. Jacob was married to Esther Salas, sister of Moses and he was married to Abigail Rois Mendez, sister of Jacob and Isaac. Isaac's epitaph in the Curaçao Cemetery shows the tender bonds that
