About Mordekhai Ber FISHELOV

GEDCOM Note

Moshe Fishelev: My father, Nahum, in his book, mentioned that his great grandfather (Mordecai's father) lived in Mishevitz (Mikaszewicz), I think one of many shtetls around Pinsk, and were fishermen, and this is the source of Fishelov. ... Regarding Pinsk and the area, in the Central Archive in Jerusalem all the files and documents are under: Pinsk, Karlin, Yanov and the area. Karlin is very close to Pinsk, just a few kilometers, what we define today as suburb. Depends on the circumstances and the agreements, the area moved back and forth between Russia and Poland. In some web sites I saw even that Misk is link to that area. Seems to me that researching the movements of this area, before, during and after the war will not contribute a lot to our research, although it may be interesting.

Moshe Fishelov 1/21/2020: I read #6 regarding that particular addresses my side, and I think that there are there some inaccuracies . It is true that my father diary tells that his grandfather (Mordekhai Ber) use to tell stories about the family's roots, and among them stories that previous family generations lived in Mikaszewicz that was close to a local river, and they dealt in fishing, Hence the surname - love fishing. However, the name Eliahu-Moshe FISHELOV is not mentioned in my father's diary, but what is written is that Abram-Mowscha who is Moshe Avraham is the youngest brother of David (my father's dad and my grandfather) and my father's uncle. The diary also tells that my father's two grandfathers - Mordekhai Ber (born 1861 and died 1920) and Barukh GOLDBERG lived in their house in Pinsk and helped them in the daily work in the Bakery.
