About Morris Heylene Pennington
Obituary:
Morris Heylene Pennington, age 96, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born May 9, 1920, in Lawrence County the son of the late William and Dala (Yates) Pennington.
Morris was a World War II Army Veteran, and worked for the City of Mt. Vernon as an Electrical Lineman for 25 years and was a welder. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1968, where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Pennington of Springdale, Arkansas and Bob Pennington and his partner, Marilyn Mayfield, of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, KayCee and Jacqueline; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Pennington and his wife, Loretta, of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Edna Oxford of Venita, Oklahoma, Erma Jones and Virginia Ruble of Mt. Vernon and Mary Jane Dundore and her husband, James, of Olathe, Kansas.
His sister, Wanda Ivy, and two brothers, Hal Pennington and Jerry Pennington also preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the Ozark Prairie Cemetery, northeast of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 6:00–8:00 p. m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in the funeral home chapel.
