son of SOLOMON and HANNAH (Coolbaugh) WESTBROOK, was b. Feb. 4, 1827, in Middle Smithfield, Pa., and was bp. June 24, 1827, in the old Dutch Church at Walpack, N.J., He spent his boyhood near the Delaware River at Dingmans Ferry, coming to Bloombing Grove with his father in 1842.As already related, when the father became incompacitated, his sons took over his extensivelumber business in Blooming Grove.They continued together for many years, when MOSES W. C. dissolved connection with the business, after which he continued to engage in farming and lumbering, paying special attention, however, to his agricultural pursuits.He was a wide-awake business man of known ability, and had the entire confidence and esteem of his associates.In his home farm he had 350 acres, of which 100 acres were under excellent cultivation, and besides this place he owned 1000 acres of wild land.For fifteen years he conducted a tavern, and his pleasant home was filled with 27(page 1440)

Aug 22, 1829, in Sussex Co., N.J., dau. of Moses and Margerie (Brocar) JONES.Jonathan Jones, father of Moses, was a native of Wales, and settled in Sussex Co., N.J.,Abraham Brocar, father of Mrs. Jones, came from Holland and settled near Reading, Pa., Socially Mr. WESTBROOK was a member of the Masons for over thirty years, and politically he was an ardent supporter of the Democratic Party.He always took a commendable interest in public affairs, and, tho not an aspirant for political honors, he was called upon to fill most of the township offices, having served as school treasurer for 26 years, and as township auditor for many years.He materially aided in the developement of all social, industrial, educational and moral interests, and was recognized as one of the most valuable and useful citizens of his community.
