About Mr Krzysztof Wyncenty Adamczyk

GEDCOM Note

Stanislaw Zielincki and his wife Sabina (Krzysztof Adamczyk's uncle and aunt) and their son Krzysztof (around 2 or 3 years of age) were hiding in the Cathedral of the Cross (Katedra Sw Jan) in the old city of Warszawa during the Warsaw Uprising of August 1944. The Germans bombed the church that they were within and they were killed.
Krzysztof Adamczyk was named after Krzysztof Zielincki in memory.

Qualified as an Electrical Engineer (Biomedical) at the Polytechnic University in Warszawa Poland. He retrained in nursing in later life.
He travelled early in life to the US for work.
I have been in touch with the Szadkowski family whom my father new from Poland and worked with in the US.
Sylvester and Maria had two sons, Matthew and Adam. They all still live in the US.I have Matthew's contact details, and the email of the parents is sylvek@gmail.com or Skype: marylka4u

From Sylvester and Maria:
"Casper is the only child of Chris Adamczyk. He (Chris) was our close friend in Warsaw, where all of us worked at the Institute of Psychoneurology. When we moved to U.S., Chris arrived later and worked in Chicago. We spent couple days with him in Chicago in 1977. We don't know why he decided to go back to Warsaw. He later married Caspers mother and they emigrated to Australia. He was first in Sydney then they moved to Perth. When they divorced, he for many years worked in Arabian countries. We always planned to meet him somewhere, but we were busy raising you guys. He called me and we talked for our on a phone whe he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. We don't know when he died. We always mentioned him in our conversation with you, when we talked about Australia and our desire to visit Perth."

From Matthew Szadkowski:
" i believe our fathers worked together in poland. I remember my father talking about Krzys when he was living in Australia and they wrote to each other. I think my brother has already forwarded you my fathers reply. Let me know if he didn't.
I live in utah now and am almost done with my training in paediatric emergency medicine. We should stay in touch if you ever decide to visit the u.s. (utah has great skiing and hiking) or if I go to western Australia. On facebook I'm Matthew Arthur and have a green plant for hair."

He learned English and was proficient at a young age.

Krzysztof was very much liked but Gorecki family. He was a very fine bloke and was always very helpful. He was seen as well travelled and worldly wise. At the time that he met Teresa Maria (Kasia) she was still quite young and he was able to show her what he had explored of the world.
Krzysztof was quite rich by Polish standards of the time. He owned his own Apartment. He had his own business - reports vary - some say he was selling jewellery, others kid's toys, and others that he used his study in the US to import medical equipment.

They drove a yellow FIAT 126P.

In 1980/81 Krzysztof and Kasia sold everything that they had and they moved to Austria for a year. From Austria they then applied for a refugee visa to Australia so as to immigrate.

Krzysztof sees his emigration from Poland as one of the crowning achievements of his life. He talks about being one of the few people who had the 'escape velocity' to make it out of Poland and into a new life. Poland in the 1980's looked like it would never become a good place to live. The government controls were only getting tigher - and history would prove them correct - for the next 9 years until 1989 Poland went through a living hell - an occupation within an occupation (there was a russian occupation of the country, and then the polish government effected another internal occupation of the country).

He changed name when he moved to Australia to Christopher Vince Adson.

Remarried a number of times after first marriage - Betty, Merilyn, Niisha, Zeny.

Has struggled with alcholism all his life. At times he has had epileptic fits from withdrawal symptoms of alcohol when he goes 'cold turkey' and stops drinking all of a sudden.

Has a slight heart palpitation (was born with it).
Has a brain tumour - benign which is currently being monitored.
His blood type was AB Rh Positive.
