About Munawar Ahmed

Munawar Ahmed is a senior systems analyst with a passion for user interface design, database design, and organizing anything and everything. She runs a tight ship and has zero tolerance for poor design, convoluted architecture, or dead weight. On any given project, she is deeply involved from inception to release, and is often described as the glue that holds the people and project together. Projects range from mid-size applications to enterprise-level systems, implemented using a variety of web application and desktop application technologies and platforms (Java, .NET, OpenLaszlo, Lombardi Teamworks).

Munawar specializes in boiling requirements down to their essence, designing intuitive user interfaces, modeling relational databases and object databases, and working quickly and methodically through issues as they arise. She understands the importance of working closely with the client, developers, and QA to ensure that nothing is lost in translation. Munawar believes in expressing system specifications in the form of diagrams rather than rambling volumes of text. She has even gone so far as to develop her own diagramming notation (or more appropriately, an extension of UML 2.0 Activity Diagram notation) to express the logical flow of events between user and system. Her streamlined approach to documenting systems produces clear, concise, and unambiguous documentation that is lauded by all members of the project team and, most importantly, by the client.

Munawar graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Cognitive Psychology, from USC with an M.S.Ed in Curriculum and Instructional Design, and from Columbia University with professional certification in Systems Analysis and Software Engineering. She is currently working as an independent consultant in the northeast region and lives in New York City with her husband Matthew Schnepf and their cat Ruby.
