About Muriel Delano Martineau

"Happy is the bride the sun shines on."

Last week Saturday the sun shone gloriously, and certainly the bride at Tuxedo Park was happy, if sparkling brown eyes, rosy cheeks and radiant smiles are proof of a joyous heart whose confidence prophesies an enviable future. The bride,, of course, was Miss Muriel Delano Robbins, the daughter of Mrs. Price Collier. Her marriage to Mr. Cyril Edgar Martineau of England was-celebrated in the little graystone church, St. Mary's--just within the gates of Tuxedo an edifice whose beautiful interior consisting almost entirely of memorials to people like the Lorillards, Kanes, and . Griswolds. For Miss Robbins' wedding the floral decorations were simple. The two vases at the white altar, with three candles at each side of the gold cross, held large bouquets of white lilies, while the other decorations were branches of lilacs and dogwood' used in clusters on a memorial fount or in some shadowy corner. A special train with five cars brought guests from New York, and certainly this was a generous provision on the part of Mr. and Mrs. Collier, as the majority of their friends are in Tuxedo at this time of the year. There were few passengers on the trains, but each car had several guests of-note. In one, for instance, the lady holding special court was Mrs. John A. Weekes, a member of the Delano family to which Mrs. Collier also belongs. She tok the gentle 'responsibility of introducing one traveler to another. For instance, she beckoned to Mr. J. Russell Soley, the lawyer and author, saying, "Do you know Mr. Williams? You must meet Mr. Williams, Mr. Collier's old friend." She had a kind word too--this beautiful lady in queenly black with pearls for even the 'old . servants who sat up stiffly; clutching invitations in their hands. "Why, Katie!" she 'said, "l am glad you are here." ' And Katie leaned back; "terribly" happy and "terribly" Irish, but with just the behavior of a servant accustomed to the "quality." The drive from the station through the gate to the church . was a short one, and on the winding stone stairway leading to the quaint edifice, friends stopped in a leisurely fashion to chat. Mrs. Amory S. Carhart, looking ever so well, was an early arrival. -She wore a beautiful, white gown with a, great full boa of white feathers, and a large hat with white plumes. Miss Violet Cruger, the bride's special friend, wore a delicate white lingerie-gown with a white-hat.
