About Myrna Rae Boothe

POLO – Myrna Rae Alice Boothe, 74, died the morning of Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at her Polo home.

Myrna Rae was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Milbank, South Dakota, to Clarence and Christine (Stromme) Dornbusch. She was the youngest of their six children. She moved to Sterling with her family as a young child.

Myrna graduated from Sterling High School, and attended nursing school at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. She married Robert Eugene Boothe in 1960, and together they raised five children. She received an Associate of Science degree from Sauk Valley Community College, and became a licensed registered nurse in 1977. She was a longtime member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Polo.

Although she worked as a nurse, and then as an office assistant at Robert’s insurance agency, her true vocation lay with her family. She was a devoted and much-beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and found joy in her growing family. Her favorite things were Christmas, seeing new places, and all things Disney. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and Polo Marcos.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Robert; sister, Laurene Jane of Downers Grove; brother-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Bauder of Cottonwood, Arizona; children, Beth (Brent) Shipman, Melanie (Scott) Armstrong, Jeff (Theresa) Boothe, Alicia Garrett, and Troy (Ashley) Boothe, all of Polo; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and the funeral at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 N. Division Ave., Polo, with the Rev. Terrie Wilder officiating. Burial will be at Eagle Point Cemetery on Brookville Road in Polo. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Wounded Warrior Project.
