Myron Nunes Vaz (112-1701-241)

Myron A. (Mickey) Nunes was born in 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut. Graduating from Pennsylvania Military Academy, he entered its affiliated Pennsylvania Military College, but left to enlist at age 17 shortly after Pearl Harbor. Assigned to Artillery after training at Fort Eustis and Fort Devens, he was preparing to go overseas with his Unit for Operation Torch (North Africa Invasion) when he was struck with severe asthma and honorably discharged as a Corporal. Returning to New Haven he enlisted and remained in the Home Guard throughout WWII. After a brief stint in film production in California, he spent the rest of his life as such a successful and highly respected businessman in New Haven, that he became a guest lecturer at Yale on business organizations. He died suddenly of a heart attack in 1985, leaving a wife of 38 years and two grown children.
