Nancy Ann Harvey

The Baker home was attacked by Indians, and Mr. Baker and one son was killed and scalped. Susannah and a daughter, Nancy, were captured and carried off. Susannah managed to escape. The Indians took Nancy to their village and held her there for two years. Nancy had flaming red hair. and this fascinated the Indians. They wanted to adopt her into the tribe. They pierced her ears, nine holes in each ear, in preparation of the ceremony. A Mr. Whitlock, an Indian trader, visited the Indian village, and saw Nancy there. He figured she was Nancy Baker, so he paid the Indians $500.00 for her, and returned her to her family.
