Nancy T. HATFIELD was born Jan. 18, 1831, in Lawrence County, Indiana; died Feb. 17, 1913. She moved with her parents when quite young to Greene County, where she continued to live until her death. She was married to Jeremiah HATFIELD in March 1848, and was the mother of seven children, three dying in infancy. There are three sons and one daughter living—Emanuel HATFIELD, of Ford, Kans., who with his family, visited his aged parents this winter, Sherman HATFIELD, of Lyons, Howard HATFIELD and Mrs. Jane LEWIS, of Owensburg. Aunt Nancy, as we loved to call her, united with the Baptist church in 1849 and with her husband, was baptized by Rev. Milton PARKS. She often mentioned the good old song, "Come Humble Sinner," the one they sang when she gave her life to the Master. She has been a sufferer for years and she also knew all about the hardships of a mother, for during the war she did the work of a father and mother both, and did it nobly. Her life, like the Master's was not all sunshine, but during her afflictions and troubles she found comfort in her Savior and often said, "I know He is with me, I feel his presence. During her last hours of suffering, she continued to pray for her friends and relatives. She lived and died loving her Savior. She leaves an age husband, children, grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends who will miss her, yet we know she fills the vacant place the Savior held for her in Heaven, for precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of His saints.
