Tom Rains Jan 10, 2009 9:31 AM, Trains1@comcast.net Hi Sharland I'm from the line of Balaam Rains which is son of Anthony Rains, I'm a direct line to Anthony Rains that way, Balaam had wife Matilda Hudson they had four Children, William Gaston Rains, Rosetta V Rains, Margent P Rains, John Hayward Rains.

         My line goes from William Gaston Rains. Anthony Rains was Born in Caroline Virginia, and Died in Randolph North Caroline, His son Balaam Rains moved to Decatur Tennessee were he died My family line is one of the first in Decatur Tennessee, I think but, not sure I think Lawrence Rains and Anthony were bothers because I came up in the DNA test as a direct line in the green group as a direct line to Lawrence Rains I know that I am related to Nancy Graham but don't have that much information about her.  John A Rains and Balaam were Brothers and that is were the line ties in with Anthony Rains. I hope I answered some your questions.

I read a 2005 ancestry.com post by you to Vergil Raines about the results of your DNA test. I descend from John Rains and fall into the Green Group with Lawrence, Capt. John, Larkin 1810, etc.

     I'm writing to see if you've learned more about your connection to the Green Group, and also how you trace back to Anthony Rains.  I've learned that I also descend from Nancy Graham, Anthony's wife, and so I'm investigating the Rains/Graham connections as well, and there were quite a number of them.
