Nancy Chernoff Wetstone, age 72, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday (July 25, 2007), of Acute Myelogeneous Leukemia. She was born in Middletown to Dr. Phillip M. and Pauline Chernoff. Nancy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown in 1952. As a member of the school's rifle team, she qualified as an expert marksman during her sophomore year and won the 1950 State of Connecticut rifle championship. Nancy graduated from Wellesley College in 1956. In November 1956 she married the love of her life, Norden Wetstone. Norden and Nancy made their home first in Ellington and then in West Hartford, where Nancy was President of the Mt. Sinai Women's Auxiliary and served in several other volunteer capacities. In 1976 Nancy and Norden relocated to Osprey, FL where she began her career as an Interior Designer. In 1990 Nancy was elected as a Professional Member of ASID, the American Society of Interior Designers. Nancy devoted much time, effort and loyalty to her alma mater, Wellesley College. She was an officer of her class and after graduation served as the President of the Sarasota Wellesley Club. She is survived by her husband, Norden; their children Tracey and Lawrence Siegel of Tampa, Florida, Jordan and Sherrie Wetstone and Evan and KaLyn Wetstone of Atlanta, GA; and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister Betsy Tanzer of Tucson, AZ, and her brother Gerald Chernoff of Sarasota, FL, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
