About Nancy "Annie" Wheeldon - Perry
"In Grahamstown, Nancy met Mr Fred Wheeldon, a descendant of the 1820 Settlers, and they were married in 1884. Three children, Herbert, Daisy and Laura, were born to them. The family moved to King William's Town, where Mr Wheeldon ran a postal service. He served as a deacon in the King William's Town Church.
Note: It would appear from Fred Wheeldon's death notice that the family lived in Kei Road, a village between King Williams Town and Komga - on the (postal) the route to Umtata. Fred was a "merchant" there.
In 1900 the little family tragically lost their father due to a lung complaint, his children then being 14,12, and 8 years old. Before he died he committed his family to his pastor and brother in the faith, the Rev Tom Perry with the request that he would see to it that they were cared for. Tom Perry obviously took on this task very seriously and married Nancy in 1910! He proved a good father to the children who always spoke of him in glowing terms and with deep affection." "WORKING TOGETHER - MRS T PERRY AND MRS T RIEMER (PUBLISHED BY THE S.A. BAPTIST HISTORICAL SOCIETY).
