Note N80Last Will and Testament of Nathan Aldrich: In the matter of probate of will of Nathan Aldrich died And now to wit, Sept. 14, 1872, was presented for probate and instrument of to be the last will and testament of Nathan Aldrich, late, of the township of Brooklyn, in said county, deceased and at the same time, came Daniel McMillan, Cyrus Barlow and Elliott Aldrich, the subscribing witnesses to the said instrument of writing who being duly sworn according to law did say that they were present and saw and heard the said Nathan Aldrich, sign, seal, publish, pronounce, and declare the said instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of their knowledge and belief, whereupon the said instrument of writing was admitted to Probate as duly proven to be the last will and testament of Nathan Aldrich deceased and is in the words following: In the name of God, Amen: I, Nathan Aldrich, of the township of Brooklyn, in the county of Susquehanna and the State of Pa., being of sound mind, memory and unerstanding, praised be God for it, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and that I may be the better prepared to meet my God when it shall please him to call me home, do make, publish, and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say: First: In order that all my just debts, funeral expenses, and charges of proving this my last will and testament be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof and every past and parcel thereof. Item 2: I direct that my executor herin after named shall pay to my beloved wife, Francis, as soon as convienent after my decease the sum of six hundred dollars, as per agreement- this day made and entered into between her and myself which shall be in liew of all dower and in full for all claims against my said estate. Item 3: I direct that my executor herein after shall sell all my personal property at public sale and convert the same into money. Also I direct, authorize, and enpower my said executor herein after named to sell all my real estate of which I may die seized at private sale, giving time of payments for a term of years if he shall think it for the best interest for my estate and I also enpower him to give a good title of Deed or Conveyance which sall be as good and effectual as I myself could do were I living and as said property is converted into money to be divided as follows: Item 4: I give and bequeath to my grandson, Montraville Aldrich, in place of deceased son, Albert, the sum of six hundred dollars. Item 5: I give and bequeath to my son, Windsor Aldrich, the sum of six hundred dollars. Item 6: It is my desire and bequest that the balance of all my property of whatever name or nature when it is converted into money be divided equally between my children, namely, Alanson Aldrich, Andrus Aldrich, Mary Ann, wife of Martin VanHousen, Alvin Aldrich and my 2 grandchildren Eva D. and Erma Ellsworth- children of my deceased daughter, Alsesta, these last 2 having 1 share jointly, making 5 equal shares. Item 7: I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my friend, Elliot Aldrich, as executor of this my last will & testament, hereby making all former will or wills by me herefor to made in witness, whereof, I the said testator, Nathan Aldrich, to these present have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of Sept. 1871. Nathan Aldrich Signed, sealed, published and declared by the testator, Nathan Aldrich, as and for his last will and testamnet in our presence and at his request while in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto- Daniel McMillan, Cyrus Barlow, Elliot Aldrich.
