Nathaniel, b. in Springfield, "13 of ye 1 mon., 1654, (Mar. 13, 1653-4), m. Mary Skinner, (b. in Windsor, Conn., Sept. 22, 1667), in Suffield, Conn., Nov. 19, 1685. They had 10 children. He d. in Suffield, May 2, 1712, aged 58 yrs., 1 mo., 19 days. She m. 2d, in 1713, John Hanchett. She d. Sept. 7, 1730, aged 62 yrs., 11 mon., 26 days. He m. Sarah Taylor, and then Sarah Southwell, and d. Oct. 23, 1744.

Nathaniel, b. in Suffield, Ct., Jan. 15, 1686-7, m. Esther Austin, (b. in Suffield, Jan. 11, 1686-7), in Suffield, Aug. 24, 1710. They had 9 children. She d. in Suffield, May 20, 1761, aged 74 yrs., 4 mos., 9 days. He d. in Suffield, Oct. 16, 1763, aged 76 yrs., 9 mos., 1 day.

Ebenezer, b. in Suffield, Ct., Mar. 21, 1688-9. He d. in Suffield, July 11, 1689, aged 1 yr., 3 mos., 20 days.

Mary, b. in Suffield, Ct., July 14, 1692, m. James Barlow, (b. in Suffield, Jan. 17, 1688), in Suffield, Apr. 1, 1714. They had 9 children.

Elizabeth, b. in Suffield, Dec. 29, 1694, m. Thomas Dewey, (b. in Westfield, Mass., June 29, 1681), pub. Dec. 2, 1749. They had no children. He d. in Westfield, Mass., Mar. 15, 1758, aged 76 yrs., 8 mos., 15 days. He was a farmer. (Note.—She m. Samuel, b. in Suffield, Aug. 15, 1699, m. Deborah Winchell, (b. in Suffield, Aug. 15, 1703), in Suffield, Apr. 28, 1723. They had 10 children. He d. in Suffield, Aug. 11, 1755, aged 55 yrs., 11 mos., 17 davs. She m. Isaac Stiles, May, 1757. They had no children. She d. in Suffield (?), Feb. 18, 1784, aged 80 yrs., 6 mos., 13 days. He d. Oct. 4, 1790, aged 94 yrs.

Sarah, b. in Suffield, Ct., Jan. 2, 1701-2, m. Joshua Lyman, in Suffield, Oct. 1, 1729. They had 5 children. He m. Esther . He d. in Northfield, Mass., 1777 (?).

Ruth, b. in Suffield, Nov. 24, 1704, m. Elias Alexander, (b. in Northfield, Mass., July 25, 1710), in Suffield, Feb. 9, 1731-2. They had 5 children.

John, b. in Suffield, Aug. 29, 1708, m. Mary Austin, (b. in Suffield, June 27, 1708), in Suffield, Nov. 11, 1736. She d. in Suffield, Nov. 6, 1794, aged 86 yrs., 4 mos., 10 days. He d. in Suffield, Apr. 25, 1786, aged 77 yrs., 7 mos., 27 days.

Benjamin, b. in Suffield, May 17, 1711, m. Hannah Jaques, (b. in Suffield, Mar. 1, 1716), in Suffield, Aug. 9, 1739. They had 7 children. He d. in Suffield, Dec. 3, 1795, aged 84 yrs., 6 mos., 16 days. She d. in Suffield, Nov. 16, 1800, aged 84 yrs., 8 mos., 15 days.

John was a prominent man for many years in Suffield. The name is variously given by Savage as Hansett, Hanchett, Hanshat, Hanshut, and Hanshett. John Hanchett was in Boston in 1634 with the Rev. Mr. Wilson, one of the leading ministers of the time. He was made a freeman May 17, 1637, and removed to Braintree, where he died. His burial is noted by John eliot as the burial of "old John Hanchett." His brother Thomas removed to Wethersfield, Ct., in 1649, where his son John, the deacon, was born to him that year. Father and son removed to Suffield in 1679, and the former died June 11, 1686. Both were among the original proprietors of the town, and their home lot was directly across the High Street from that of Launcelot Granger. Deacon John was the last of the "proprietors" to die, and the old homestead on the High Street, which for generations had passed down from father to son, went out of the family but a few years since. Dea. John had lived at Westfield, Mass., for a short time, possibly during Kind Philip's war, where he married Esther Pritchett of Suffield, and his 2 eldest children were born there. But he removed to Suffield in time to vote at its first town meeting. After the deat of his first wife, he married in succession Mary Harmon, Sarah Taylor, and Mary Southwell. Happily Mary survived him, else he might have made another venture, since he was only eighty-four years of age when he was last married. Dea. Hanchett was always prominent in public matters, rising to the dignity of selectman in civil affairs and deacon on the religious side of the town, for town and church were pratically one in those days. From his father, Thomas, wree descended all of that name, who have scattered along the Conn. Valley. Dea. John died October 23, 1744-"a very old man," says the record.

Nathaniel Harmon, born at Springfield, March 13, 1654, married Mary Skinner, November 19, 1685; had ten children. She died 1711. He died May 2, 1712. He held some town office constantly, but was not a qualified voter when the town was organized. His house lot was in High street, and his farm on the Northampton Road. His children were pioneers of West Suffield. "Documentary History of Suffield", H.S. Sheldon. 

Samuel, Joseph, and Nathaniel Harmon were three brothers and "mighty hunters." Together they had roamed over the present limits of Suffield, pursuing their calling, and ten years before the town was settled had endeavored to procure a grant of it. They lived in Springfield, where Samuel died 7 Sept., 1677. Joseph, Sr., was born at Springfield, 1647, and married Hannah Filley of Windsor, Ct., in 1673. She died at Suffield in 1729, and he in October the same year. The three brothers were the first settlers in the town, and the ancestors of that large family of Harmons who have been identified for more then two centuries with Suffield. Joseph, Sr., was a man very prominent in town affairs, holding for years the office of selectman besides minor positions. He was the captain of Suffield militia company in 1708, a position of much importance in early days in view of the constant Indian troubles. His son Joesph married Elizabeth Granger. While not as prominent as his father, Joseph, Jr., took much interest in town matters, and for neraly a quarter of a century occupied various town offices, finally being elected as selectman in 1702-3.
