About Nathaniel P. Whaley, Sr.
Nathaniel Whaley was born on 8 Jul 1686 in the Virginia Province ofSomerset County, Maryland. His parents wee Edward Whaley and Elizabeth Middleton, sister to George Middleton or possibly Elizabeth Ratcliff. He married in Somerset Co., MD, a girl named Mary. I have found some information that her last name was Dale, although I have no proof of that. Nathaniel and Mary had 10children. He died when the youngest, Rachel, was only two years of age.Elias, his son, was only five at the time of his death. His religiousfaith was passed on to him through his father, Edward Whalley. WhileEdward was strong in the Puritan faith, it might appear that Nathanielheld with the established church of the day. This information accordingto a history written by Thomas Robins, III, on July 8, 1769. Of whichtheological dictum we are not sure, but, we do know that Nathaniel'sfaith was important to him. Nathaniel's will was probated in 1728 at hisdeath.
