WEST YARMOUTH Nellie ODonnell, 89, of West Yarmouth died February 9, 2006 at the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on Aril 30, 1916, the daughter of Bernard and Winifred Chestnut Baltrukaitis. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1935. On June 12, 1937 she married Joseph Anthony Arent who died shortly after the birth of their son. On August 20, 1941 she married Joseph Charles ODonnell, Sr., the creator of Bondo and President of Unican Plastics, Inc. They began raising their family in Worcester. A daughter, Carol ODonnell died at the age of 3, and a son, Richard William ODonnell, died from a car accident at age 19. In 1955 the family moved to a peach and apple farm in Northboro. Shortly after their divorce, she moved to her home in West Yarmouth in 1979.
She is survived by two sons, Robert John ODonnell of South Pomfret, VT and Joseph Anthony Arent of Bow, NH, a stepson Joseph Charles ODonnel of Dothan, Ala., a stepdaughter Jo Ann Tedder of Mount Dora, FL, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service and burial will take place this spring in Northboro, MA. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial donations to American Red Cross Central Vermont/New Hampshire Valley Chapter, P.O Box 514, Hartford, Vermont 05047. Arrangements are by Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT.
