His mother's name was Hazel Maud Wilson. She married a person who traveled to South America.

Newton A. Wilson Resident of Walnut Creek Newt, 90, was born in Toronto, Canada on March 26, 1923 to A.D. and Hazel Wilson. He, his mother and brother moved to Long Beach in 1933. He was a product of the Long Beach school system and graduated from Wilson High School in 1941. Newt was very active in sports, having participating in golf, tennis, skiing and softball and ran track in high school. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Newt graduated from USC in foreign trade in 1949 and from Long Beach State College in 1951 with an M.A. in education. He taught in high schools for several years and entered the textbook publishing business when he took an early retirement in 1973. He spent the following years taking care of various properties that he and his wife had accumulated. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, a brother Jim, deceased, two sons, Larry with his wife Patricia and Greg with his wife Elizabeth, and two step daughters, Susan with her husband Mike and Paula Burchett with her daughter Jade. He also leaves behind his four grandsons. Newt was cremated by the Neptune Society. He requests no memorial.
