NICHOLAS MELCHERTSE KEATOR and Jane van der Mark (ofter spelled Vandermark). Nicholas was born in Marbletown ca. 1675; died aft. 1736. A freeholder of land in Marbletown, he inherited his father's military tradition. As early as 1692 he and his brother Richard (Rut) Melchertse were listed as privates detached from Ulster County to serve in Major Peter Schuyler's Company defending the Albany frontier against the French. Nicholas was the oldest son of MELCHIOR (MELGERT) CLAESSEN KEATOR, and Susanna Richards
