About Nicolay Otto Knudtzon

Han tok filologisk embetskesamen i 1846 og bodde et par år i utlandet innen han i 1849 ble kst. adjunkt ved Lillehammer høiere skole. Samme år ble Knudtzon forflyttet til Trondhjem katedralskole, hvor han avanserte fra timelærer til overlærer. Fra 1867 til 1892 (da han døde) var han ansatt om rektor ved middelskolen i Larvik (som i 1875 skiftet navn til Laurvigs offentlige høiere almenskole). Skolen lå i den nå fredede bygningen Herregården.

Knudtzons fag var først og fremst latin, men han underviste også i tysk og norsk. Han er gravlagt i Oslo på Vår Frelsers gravlund.
