Nils Hanson

Nelse Hansen was born in Sweden and died April 10, 1905, age 81 years, 2 months and 9 years (sic). While yet in his native land he was married to Hannah Toulson.

To this union were born six children four daughters and two sons. Five of these, Mrs. Frank Nelson and Mrs. G.A. Roberts of Griswold, Ia., Anna, Perry and Nelse who are still at the home, here together with the aged mother, remain to mourn the loss of a husband and father, one daughter having passed out of this life in infancy. The deceased, together with his family came to the U.S. in 1878 settling upon a farm in Audubon County where they resided until 1891 since which time they have made their home in Exira.

Early in life the deceased was confirmed a member of the Lutheran Church but later united with the Swedish Baptist Church of Atlantic, Iowa. In his religious life he has been thoroughly consecrated to the work of his Master, in his conversation religion was a favorite topic with him often quoting as an excuse for his religious zeal, the words of Paul in his enhortation to Timothy to "Preach the Word be instant in season and out." For a number of years he has been a close student of God's Word, and while at times he has been a great sufferer yet his hope has ever been bright and his confidence secure, knowing that :He is able to keep that which I have committed to him against that day."

His religious life has not been one of profession only but one of reality, making itself felt not only in the home but wherever he has been known.
